TL 3008 BAYFORD ASHENDENE ROAD
(East side)

5/4 No. 43 (Lambfield Cottage),
- and No. 45

GV II


2 adjoining houses. C18, No. 43 possibly earlier. No. 43 timber frame on
high painted brick sill (lower part plastered), roughcast. No. 45
roughcast with remains of pargetting but S gable rebuilt in C19 red
brick. Steep old red tile roofs. 2-storeys group with No. 43 at N set
back parallel with road facing W and partly overlapped at its S end by
No. 45 nearer the road. Later SE extension in line with No. 43 to S. No.
43 has a front lean-to over part of its front next to No. 45. No. 43 has
a 2-cells, internal chimney plan, W front has a 2-lights and a
single-light flush casement window to 1st floor, and a 3-lights window
to left of porch in angle with front lean-to. No. 45 has a 2-cells,
end-chimneys plan with entrance into N room. 2 leaded 2-lights windows
to each floor and 4-panels door in moulded surround under lean-to glazed
porch.
