House, now 2 houses. Early C17, C18 parallel roofed rear range, C20 rear
wing to No. 15. Timber frame on brick sill, white weatherboarded, with
steep old red tile roofs. 2-storeys, 2 cells, internal chimney plan
house set back from road facing W, with 2-storeys parallel rear range
and later 2-storeys gabled rear wing to No. 15 at SE. Lower rear
extension to No. llA. Rear range has internal sidewall chimney in the
middle of its rear wall. W front has 3 windows to each floor, the outer
ones of 3-lights the upper middle one of 2-lights and a small single
light to ground floor possibly in position of former lobby-entry door.
Present doors to right of each ground floor window. Large axial stack on
roof ridge of 4 conjoined diagonal shafts, built in narrow bricks.
Rectangular leaded lights and iron opening lights remain only in No. 15.
Replaced by wooden flush casements in No. 11A. Interior of No. 15 has
exposed timbers in walls and floor, some wide floorboards, old plank
doors with strap hinges, axial beam to ground floor of older front
range, but cross-beam in rear range with stair in its NW corner. Plan of
rear range suggests the house was divided when it was built.
