Crosswing of a late Cl5 hall house, extended in C16, C19 and C20. Timber-framed,
weatherboarded, roof thatched. The NW section comprises a 2-bay crosswing,
jettied to the SW when recorded by the RCHM (9), now underbuilt, extended to the
rear (NE) in the C16. Roof rebuilt in C16, to the same coupled rafter
construction as its original form, re-using some smoke-blackened medieval rafters.
The remainder of the hall house formerly extended to the SE but has been
demolished. Crosswing extended to SE in C19 but substantially rebuilt in C20.
C20 block in rear angle. C20 bay windows with thatched roofs added to SW and
SE, and tiled porch in E angle. 2 storeys. SW elevation, bay window, door
with glass pane, casement window, all C20. First floor, 3 C20 casement windows.
Roof hipped, chimney in ridge. Some framing exposed internally in crosswing.
Jowled storey posts, cambered tiebeam. Unglazed window of 2 lights with diamond
mullion present in upper NW wall.
