House and adjoining wall. Early C19, altered and extended c1930. Stuccoed
brick, shallow-pitched slate roofs with overhanging eaves on brackets. Large
ridge stacks with blue brick caps. Two storeys with first floor sill band.
Three bays; to right of groudd floor is a tripartite sash window with pilasters,
a moulded cornice and a cambered head; the left ground floor window has been
blocked; there is also a large rectangular window and a narrow light flanking
the right window which were inserted c1930. The first floor has 12-pane sashes
in the outer bays, (the left of which is blind and painted in) and a pair of
8-pane sashes in the central bay. The central entrance has an open segmental
pediment on consoles, fluted pilasters and an eared moulded architrave; the door
is C20 and glazed; above the door, and partly enclosed by the pediment, is a
glazed circular opening with plaster swag above it. A two-bay service wing
projects to the right, recessed from the main front, and has a single-storey
hipped-roofed wing adjoining its front elevation; this is screened behind a
curved stuccoed wall about 10 feet high and 20 yards long which adjoins the
right corner of the main elevation. Interior: central hall has large open
well staircase with slender turned balusters. Main ground floor rooms are
panelled and retain. their moulded fireplaces. There is a mid- to late C19
ballroom wing to rear right. The rear elevation was otherwise altered and
extended c1930.
