House. Possibly C15 or C16, extended and altered in C17 and late C20.
Timber-frame with plaster infill, sandstone rubble, raised tiled roof
and stone ridge stacks. U-plan with two-bay cruck range aligned roughly
north/south extended southwards in C20 and two arms to the east, the south
one partly late C17 or early C18, the north one late C20. One storey and
attic to front range facing west, which has three windows, 2-light late
C20 casements, gabled late C20 dormers and contemporary glazed entrance
porch to right of centre. Full pair of cruck blades visible in north
gable. Upper part of underbuilt south-east wing has exposed timber-
framing, possibly late C17. Interior has three pairs of crucks, three
chamfered segmental door heads from present hall into north ground floor
room, to rear of hall and a third on the first floor indicating an earlier
lower attic; fireplace in hall has chamfered beam and stone chamfered
jambs (RCHM Vol I, p 179).
