Farmhouse. Late C16 east wing, C17 west wing and central block, refronted
and remodelled mid-C19. Timber-framed with part wattle-and-daub and part
brick infill, brick refronting, sandstone plinth and stacks, slate roof.
Broadly H-plan with east and west wings extending to south and extending
slightly to north; central block aligned east/west, facing south; lobby
entry with large central axial stack and two further lateral stacks to
east and west wings, later lean-to additions to rear. Two storeys, attic
and cellar; one 3-light casement window with segmental head in gable ends
of wings, similar'3-light window with square head in central block, 4-light
window to ground floor of east wing, 3-light C20 casement windows flanking
C20 panelled door of central block partly obscured by lean-to penticed porch
extending between wings, C19 decorative barge boards to gables. Two decorative
shafts to west lateral stack. Framing of wings revealed at rear (north) west
wing, four panels from sill to tie-beam with diagonal brace from sill to main
post, two struts to collar and curved V-struts in gable; east wing, partly
obscured by lean-to, possibly close-studding above girding beam to tie-beam,
three struts to collar, V-struts in gable. Both north gable ends have
similar C19 decorative bargeboards. Interior not inspected, but likely to
be of interest.
