Stableblock. Mid C18. Brick and coursed squared and dressed
limestone; red tile roof with stone ridge tiles. Rectangular
plan. Single storey and loft; 3 stable doors within tall basket-
headed surrounds glazed at the top, one retaining its original
radiating glazing bars. Two double-width openings with timber
lintels towards the right gable end. The right-hand opening now
contains a single width stable door with a fixed casement with
glazing bars to the left. Five shallow 2-light windows below the
eaves. Pitching window to the left gable end; bull's-eye window
with radiating glazing bars at the right gable end facing the
entrance to Witcombe Park (q.v.). Interior not inspected. The
brick east front and north gable end facing Witcombe Park were
evidently intended to impress. Some tiles off roof at time of
resurvey - February 1987. (Witcombe Estate)
