Farmhouse marked as Bengrove House on 6 inch O.S. map. Dated and
initialled 'I.M / I.M 16/28' on the dormer gable; C18-early C19.
Coursed squared and dressed limestone and rendered brick; concrete
tile and slate roofing; brick and ashlar stacks. 'T'-shaped plan
with later extension to the west gable end and largely rebuilt
north front. l½ storeys and cellar. South front: with gable
projecting forwards to the right; 3-light C20 steel casement to
the ground floor; 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned
casement with stopped hood above. Three-light double-chamfered
stone-mullioned casement and the surround to a similar 4-light
window with mullions now removed and replaced with a C20 wooden
casement with glazing bars to the ground floor of the main body.
Two Cotswold dormers with 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned
casements to the upper floor; datestone set in gable of the right-
hand dormer; C20 two-light raking dormer far left. Nearly all
windows to this front retain their early glass. C20 plank door
with a moulded semi-circular surround with panelled spandrels and
stopped hood; flat coping over. Plank door to later extension far
left. Two, 3 and 4-light casements some with segmental heads and
one cross window to the north front. Off-the-ridge and projecting
lateral stack with twin shafts.
Interior: open fireplace with bressumer. Compartmented ceilings.
Square-panelled timber-framed partition walls. Tudor-arched opened
fireplace with wooden bressumer. Moulded stops and stepped stops
to the principal beams and joists. Lower part of staircase retains
two splat balusters and pierced pointed finial.
