House, former church cottage. c.1840 at expense of Abel Smith of
Woodhall Park, Watton-at-Stone C.P. (q.v.). Yellow stock brick. Steeply
pitched decoratively tiled roof. Cottage orné. T on plan. 1 storey and
attics. 2 window front. Gable fronted left bay projects forward. Ground
floor rectangular bay window with 6 light mullion and transom lattice
casements with chamfered surrounds, similar fenestration throughout. 2
lights in attic with shaped kneelers to gable parapet with rendered
coping. To right inside angle of projection is entrance porch,
vertically panelled door, coped flat head. To right a 6 light mullion
and transom window and a tall 2 light dormer with a steep gabled head
with an ornamental bargeboard. Right gable end shaped kneelers to coped
parapet, extruded stack with 2 octagonal shafts with moulded caps and
bases. Cross axial stack to centre is similar. Roof has alternate
sawtooth and fishscale tiling. Gabled bay projects slightly to rear
right. Slate roofed lean-to added to rear left. Interior not inspected.
