Farmhouse

Outbuilding, formerly warehouse and workshops associated with
the water-powered scythe and sickle works which formerly
occupied the adjacent site. Late C18. Coursed squared coal
measures sandstone with ashlar dressings, intermediate and end
ridge brick stacks and a Welsh slated roof. Two storeys, three
bays, formerly with three doorways with massive stone surrounds
and lintels, now with one altered to form a double doorway. Two
square first floor openings in flush surrounds, one a 2-light
mullioned window, and a smaller rectangular light. A second
pair of double doors to the centre of the elevation. The rear
elevation has a 2 and 3-light flush mullioned window, with some
blocked lights. South gable with a large first floor loading
door and planked double doors. The building formed part of a
complex of workshops and dwellings, similar to the Abbeydale
Works site in Sheffield. The mill pond, and part of the water
powered forge, survive to the west of the warehouse, but are not
included in this or any other list.
