Former inn, now house. C16, extended to north during late C17 or early
C18, further mid-C19 and C20 alterations and additions. Timber-framed
earlier section with wattle-and-daub infill and stone slate roof, sandstone
rubble south gable end and part refacing to rear; rendered sandstone rubble
later section with C20 tiled roof. Two framed bays of timber-framed house
aligned north/south with south gable-end stack and entrance to right on east
front, large rectangular plan later section adjoins to north and projects
forward to east with central entrance and gable-end stacks, later addition
in angle with earlier house. Two storeys; east front: timber-framed section
to left, one casement window with decorative glazing, ledged door to right.
Framing: upper overhanging floor supported on chamfered joists, vertical
studs with struts arranged in herringbone pattern; 3-light casement window
in addition to right, later house to right has three plain sash windows, lean-
to porch with panelled door. Interior of earlier house retains fine chamfered
ceiling beams, the later section not inspected.
