Estate offices and lodge house, then Council offices, now offices. Later
C19 for Rothschilds probably by William Huckvale. Red brick ground floor
with stone plinth band, scalloped red tilehanging to 1st floor.
Half-timbered gables with painted roughcast panels. Steep old red tiled
roofs. Tall red brick pilastered chimneys. A large 2 storeys and attics
block facing N onto street with E part designed as a separate building.
4 windows long with 2-light casements to each of 4 gables linked by
pierced bargeboard. Moulded cornice breaks forward over 4 elaborate oriel
windows each with triangular projecting centre. 4 4-light casement
windows to ground floor with flat hoods on shaped brackets. 4-centred
moulded stone archway with square hoodmould between E pair of windows
leads to door up 4 steps. Included for group value.
