Solid stone chancel screen (one of only five surviving in England), with a plastered tympanum reaching to the ceiling. The medieval separation of the church into two parts is clear: the nave for the laity also serving as a schoolroom, the sanctuary for the clergy alone with their Holy ofiices. The door arch is in the C12 Early English Gothic style but the pair of straight headed windows are C14 Perpendicular Gothic and C14 is the accepted date for the screen. (Photo Jun 2007)
