-Here lyeth the Body of Mathew Johnson Esq who had his education under Sir Geffrey Palmer, Attorney General to King Charles II and by grant from His Majesty was Clerke of the Parliaments 26 years. He died 13th Dec 1723 in the 88th year of his age. Here also lyeth the body of Margarett the wife of the said Mathew Johnson, daughter of Edward Palmer Esq and Elizabeth his wife, the eldest daughter of the said Geffrey Palmer. She departed this life 19th Sept 1715 in the 67th year of her age. They had 2 sons Geffrey and Mathew, and 2 daughters Frances and Elizabeth All living-. Edward and Elizabeth may have been cousins marrying to keep the family name and Arms together. Arms Argent on a bend gules three phaeons or, a canton ermine (Johnson) impaling, Azure a chevron engrailed between three crescents argent (Palmer). Grey veined white marble on an alabaster plinth.
