School, c. 1830, extended and altered probably in 1870s. Coursed
sandstone and sandstone rubble, slate roof with one gable chimney.
Rectangular plan of 6 bays (4 bays originally). Two storeys, with porch
to left end; string course; 6 rectangular windows on each floor (the
end 2 being in the added part), all with plain stone cases and altered
glazing; doorway has round headed stone case and fanlight with radiating
glazing bars; traces of original door between 2nd and 3rd windows
remain, though well disguised. Right gable wall has 2 doors and a window
at ground floor, a round headed window at 1st floor (and an inserted
upper door to iron fire-escape). Rear wall is of rubble. Interior:
originally one room on each floor, somewhat altered; but incorporates
original ventilation system between the floors.
