Row of six houses. Late C19, probably by William Huckvale, for Rothschild
staff. Red brick but end houses stucco, with steep slate roofs (No. 3 has replacement concrete tiles). Three
handed-pairs of two storeys and attic houses stepping up slope and facing
south into countryside. Large Dutch gable to front of each topped by
triangular pediment. Single window in gable, two to 1st floor, large
canted wooden bay to ground floor and recessed half-glazed door with
stuccoed reveals and triangular pedimented hoods on shaped brackets.
Recessed box sashes with 3/3 panes, thick glazing bars and segmental
head to window sash under segmental arch, transomed small-pane bays.
Tall red brick front wall swept up to piers with moulded caps and terracotta ball finials. Prominent in views from motorway to south. Included for
group value.
