House and barn attached, now one house. Both buildings C16. Central
chimney and inserted floor to hall C17, low W extension C20. Timber
frame on stucco sill, painted brick infill on N but painted brick casing
at rear (S). Dark weatherboarded timber framed barn. Steep old red tile
roof. 2 storeys, 6 windows long, house facing N with 2 structural bays
to each side of a narrow chimney bay with gabled stair turret to S of
stack and C20 porch on S. Single storey bow-ended hipped W end extension
beyond large external W gable chimney. Casement windows with lattice
leaded glazing. Interior has exposed frame with jowled posts, straight
braces, clasped-purlin roof, roughly squared axial joists in E bay,
squared axial beam and joists in next bay to W (on E of chimney),
numbered chamfered and stopped joists, on axial beam over hall
to W of chimney, and S side door in full height partition on W end of
hall with parlour bay (now a kitchen) beyond. Barn has heavy jowled
posts, clasped-purlin roof, heavy curved inclined queen-posts (without
collars) to trusses, straight wind braces, and straight butted scarf
joint in wallplate. House occupies N end of barn with stables in S end
and gabled projection to E.
