Mews building. c.1776 by James Adam, as stable-coach house to No. 48
Portland Place q.v. Stucco faced; slate roof. Mews front altered;
principal "polite" front to west, vis-a-vis rear of Portland Place house,
dressed with giant order. 2 storeys. 3 windows wide. Ground floor (left
hand bay observed by later link with house) has recessed sashes in moulded
architraves with projecting cornices on console brackets; 1st floor has
recessed glazing bar sashes flanking central blind window. Window bays
articulated by full height pilasters carrying cornice and parapet;
stringcourse to 1st floor.
