House. Mid C17 with late C17 addition. Timber framed with brick
infill and thatched roof. Two storeys. Entrance front: of two
builds, the right hand portion being earlier and having 11 x 2 cells
of small framing with angle braces at right and left and right of
centre. To this portion is a doorway at far left with a ½-glazed C20
door and gabled porch. To right of this are a 3-light and a 2-light
ground floor window at centre and far right. Single light first floor
window at left and 2-light swept dormer window to right. The later
portion at left has 3 x 2 cells of small framing with a doorway to
the centre with a lean-to porch and above this at first floor level a
2-light swept dormer window. Chimney stacks to far right and to left
of centre. The right hand end has a C19 or C20 chimney stack to right
of centre and rendered walling mostly painted in simulation of timber
framing, but with some timber to the lower wall and gable. The left
hand end also has some timber framing to the lower wall although mostly
painted in simulation of timber framing. Rear: at left are 9 x 2
cells of small framing with angle braces at left, right and right of
centre. Canted ground floor bow window at right with hipped roof and a
2-light ground floor window at left. Above this at first floor level
are three 2-light swept dormer windows. To the right hand, later,
portion are 3 x 2 cells of small framing with one 3-light ground floor
casement window.
Interior: small-framed dividing wall. Chamfered ceiling beams to
parlour. One other ground floor room has pine ceiling beams replaced
in the C20 as the result of a fire. Two trusses to the first floor
with queen posts and lateral upright pasts. Two flights of stairs
leading from the half-landing to the different portions.
