Farmhouse, now 2 dwellings. C17 with late C17/early C18 wing and
later alterations. Timber-frame with red brick infill and red
brick and stone plinth in part. Plain tile roof, dark blue to
front and mostly red to rear with brick ridge and right end
stacks. L-plan, wing projecting forward on left. 2 storeys,
part with attic. Main range (Rose Farmhouse) is a 2-window range
of a 2-and 3-light casement over two 3-light casements with
cambered lintels. Central doorway with 4-panel door. Timber
frame replaced by brick. Lean-to right end with C20 window in
brick gable above. 2-light and 3-light casements to rear with
extension of 1 storey and attic. 2 bays of square panel framing
partly visible. Tudor Cottage to left is a cross-wing of
probably late C17/early C18 square-panel framing. Blank gable
faces with three 2-light C20 casements in wall to right. On left
end wall are door, French window, further 2-and 3-light casements
and small C20 extension. A 3-and a 1-light casement to rear.
INTERIOR: Rose Farmhouse has 2 open fireplaces, 1 inserted into
probable former framed smoke bay, the other with partly
dismantled hood. Some renewal to roof but trusses with angle
struts and some purlins remain. Tudor Cottage: chamfered beams,
old boards to 1st floor, and queen-post roof with clasped
principals and ridge piece. C18 brick stack visible in attic.
