Farmhouse. C18, refronting of earlier dwelling. Red brick facing rubble and cob,
roughcast south gable end with large raking buttress, thatched roof, slate to lean-to
addition set below west gable end, brick stacks gable ends and large brick stack rising
at rear from kitchen outshut. L-plan, facing south, outshots on north and east fronts,
west gable end linked by wall to loft over store. Two storeys, 2:1 bays; all casements
filled with plate glass, first floor 4-light wooden casement left, 2-light right,4-light
in re-entrant angle right, ground floor 4-light casements, left window voussoirs forming
slightly pointed arch, entrance second bay left, 6-panel door with inserted upper
lights, flat roofed porch with thin Doric columns; left return gable end with 2 small
lights to attic. Wall abutting west gable end ramped down fronting addition continued
as wall, brick coping and square headed doorway. Thatched roof 2-storey out
building set parallel with road abutting wall at north gable end; two 'S' and one 'X'
iron ties on unlit west front;north gable end square headed, loft opening and segmental
headed doorway with brick dressings in chert random rubble.This is a C19 rebuild
incorporating the wall of an earlier structure. The evolution of the farm house is
unclear without an internal inspection.
