Farmhouse. Late medieval, ceiled C17 and enlarged with cross wing, refenestrated late
C19-early C20. Roughcast over rubble, brick north front and east gable end, clay tiled
roof, large external roughcast stack north west gable end,another roughly centre of
main block. Plan: open hall house lying north-south with possibly open loft at northern
end, ceiled to 2-cell and cross passage with northern cross wing addition and south -
western gabled wing added later. One and a half storeys, irregular fenestration, left
windows flanking stack in gable end, one window left ground floor by outshut, centre
gabled dormer rising in roof space, one window set below eaves right, ground floor
entrance left, 2 windows right, right gable end with one window opening. Interior not
seen, said to contain 2 arch-braced jointed cruck trusses visible in medieval range, 6
-panel compartment ceiling to hall with moulded beams, similar 4-panel ceiling in
west end room of cross wing, eastern room of wing originally kitchen with oven and
furnace. Railings early C19 cast iron, linking gable ends of farmhouse and enclosing
forecourt; spearhead uprights with urn standards, swept up to single gate of similar
design. The property would seem to be an early example of brick in the Taunton area
and a significant example of the developments that the medieval farmhouse underwent
