3/33 Milton Farmhouse, and front
boundary wall with mounting block

GV II
Farmhouse. C17, possibly earlier fragments. Ham stone near-ashlar double Roman clay tile roof with coped west gable,
plain to east; brick chimney stacks. Complex plan: 2 storeys, south elevation 3 bays. Ovolo-mould mullioned windows of
4, 2 and 2 light above, without labels, and 4 and 2-lights below, with separate label to bay 3 but with continous
stepped label to bay 1 and the ovolo-mould flat arched doorway to bay 2, which has a regency pattern part-glazed door.
Major single-storey extension southwards from east gable which may reuse features from the earlier portion of the house
which this may supplant; moulded single-light window under hood in west gable. Interior not seen, but reported is a
4-panel ceiling with deep chamfer beams in hall, and camber-arched fireplace with deep stone lintol, matching stone
doorway; similar fireplace in west room and smaller version in room above; roofs somewhat modified. Extending from
south-west corner for about 6 metres, and then returning to meet the south-east extension, an ashlar boundary wall on
plinth, about 1.5m high on average, with curved upsweeps at ends, corner and gateway, which is opposite the door and
has urn finials. C20 wrot-iron gates, up 2 steps: against south gable of extension a 5-step mounting block. (VAG
Report, SRO Unpublished October, l976).
