GV II
One of terrace of six houses. Dated 1887. Has stone cut and squared, with ashlar dressings; plain clay tiles with
moulded ridges in continuous roof, with coped gable; brick chimney stack. 2-storeys, 2 wide bays, the left hand
projecting and gabled. Large 4-centre arched wood window with Gothic style tracery, with string course below arch
springing; above, a labelled narrow 4-light window, from which the mullions have been renoved and C20 casement
inserted; obelisk finial to gable; to bay-2 a 4-centred arched recess for boarded door, and a C20 casement in a former
3-light mullioned window; panel above hung with fish-scale tiles into which is set a casement window. Interior not
seen. A remarkably well-detailed terrace with deliberate 'spoiled symmetry', in the style of Norman Shaw, and prophetic
of the early 'Garden City' houses; an early and little changed example.
