5/115 Rhiews Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, now house. Early to mid-C17 with late C17 or early C18
addition and late C19 or early C19 alterations and addition. Timber
framed with painted brick nogging on brick plinth. Rendered gable
end to south-east. Partly rebuilt and extended in brick painted to
represent framing. Machine tile roof. Framing: tall rectangular
panels (2 from sole plate to former wall plate) with short straight
corner braces. Baffle-entry plan of 2 framed bays with c.1700 addition
to south-east. 2 storeys. North-east front: brick ridge stack off-
centre to right. 4-window front; C20 two-, 3-and 4-light metal casements.
C19 four-panelled (lower flush) door between first and second windows
from right with lean-to porch. Right-hand gable end: slightly jettied
gable with chamfered tie-beam and truss with 2 collars, queen struts,
king strut and curved v-struts. C20 three-light casements. Late
C19 two-storey rear wing. Eaves raised, probably in early C20 (see
extra panel beneath eaves and truss in gable end).
