Farmhouse, now house. Late C16, remodelled early C19 with later additions
and alterations. Timber framed with rendered infill, formerly slate-
hung; slate roof, hipped to left. Basic L-plan comprising hall range
apparently in 2 framed bays with flush 2-bay gabled cross-wing projecting
to rear on left. Roofs raised in early C19 when front was slate hung.
2 storeys and gable-lit attic. Framing: square and rectangular panels,
3 from cill to original wall-plate to hall range with herringbone patterning
to left and infilled 2-light window and curved brace below to centre.
Timber frame also to raising of eaves. Right gable end has close studding
with long straight tension braces on ground floor and herringbone patterning
above. Cross-wing with 4 small square panels from cill to tie beam.
3 windows; 16-paned glazing bar sashes in flush-framed moulded surrounds.
Central entrance; slightly recessed half-glazed door. Red brick ridge
stack to left at former junction between hall range and cross-wing and
external end stack to right. Outbuilding attached to rear of cross-
wing has C17 red brickwork, integral end stack and corrugated iron roof.
Interior. Inspection not possible at time of resurvey (February 1987)
but likely to be of interest. Formerly known as Yeaton Villa.
