Farmhouse. Early to mid-C18 incorporating parts of probably C16 or
C17 house and with late C19 and late C20 alterations and additions.
Red brick with timber-framed core; plain tile roofs, hipped to east.
L-plan; C18 range with remodelled C16 or C17 flush gabled cross-wing
to east. Two storeys and gable-lit attic. South front: two plat
bands, low-stepped parapeted gable end to left; integral brick end
stack to left. Integral brick lateral stack to front at right,
integral brick lateral stack at rear; integral brick end stacks to
cross-wing, truncated at rear. 3-window front; first-floor 3-light
wooden casements, late C19 to right with depressed relieving arches
and late C20 to left; late C19 gabled brick former porch between
first and second windows from left with 2-light segmental-headed
casement to front and C20 casement replacing former doorway in right-
hand return front; inserted C20 half-glazed door to left; cross wing
with plat band, segmental-headed blind window on each floor, first-
floor C20 casement to right and ground-floor C20 casement to left.
C20 addition at rear of C18 range. INTERIOR: C18 roof has collar
and tie-beam trusses and pairs of staggered purlins; late C16 or C17
former external lateral stack to cross-wing now enclosed in C18 roof,
consisting of two star-shaped shafts with oversailing tops; first-floor
exposed framing of former external wall of cross wing consisting
square panels and angle braces; chamfered and stopped beams;
early C18 corner fireplace.
