House. Early C18. Dressed grey Grinshill sandstone; slate roof.
T-plan. One storey and attic. Chamfered plinth (rendered to front),
plat band, moulded stone eaves cornice and parapeted gable ends with
chamfered copings and moulded kneelers. Pair of gabled semi dormers
with 2-light casements. Large external stone end stacks, that to left
with moulded cornice and rendered brick addition and that to right
partly rebuilt in C20 concrete block; integral stone end stack to rear
wing. 2-window front; mid- to late C19 wooden cross windows with stepped
triple keystones (central keys flush with plat bands); central 4-panelled
door with triple keystone and gabled timber porch. Interior: right-
hand ground-floor room with chamfered beam and joists and large open
fireplace with large chamfered cambered wooden lintel. Early C18 oak
staircase with winders at top, open string, 2 turned balusters per
tread, moulded handrail, and square-section newel posts, that at top
with finial. Large open kitchen fireplace in rear wing. Front door
with C18 strap hinges; wooden screen between right-hand ground-floor
room and staircase incorporating doors with C18 strap hinges and H-
hinges; first-floor doors with 3 raised and fielded panels.
