Cottage. Early C17 with later additions and alterations. Timber
framed with painted brick infill on high painted rubblestone plinth,
straw thatch roof. 2-cell plan with basement storey. One storey
and gable-lit attic over basement; framing: square panels, 3 from
cill to wall-plate with long straight tension braces, V-struts from
collar to right gable end (left gable end re-built in brick);
irregular fenestration, two C20 casements in panels of framing with
3 late C19 casements to basement; entrance through C20 half-glazed
door in right gable end; integral red brick end stack to right.
Interior: timber frame intact including to cross-wall, which has
a slightly round-headed doorway to basement, chamfered ceiling beams
to basement and main floor; single-purlin roof with central truss
of Queen-strut construction, straight windbraces. C19 lean-to addition
to left and C20 flat-roofed extension to rear are not of special
architectural interest.
