Beaufront Woodhead
20.10.52 Farmhouse (previously
listed as Bridge End
Kennels)

Kennels and attached cottage. Early C19 in two phases. Coursed squared
rubble with tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings, yard walls brick with
cast iron gates and railings; Welsh slate roof. L-plan. South elevation 1
storey, 3 bays: large 2-light mullioned windows with 24-pane part-opening
casements in chamfered surrounds. Hipped roof with 2 stepped and banded ridge
stacks. Left return, to road is rear outshut of later west range, with 2
boarded doors; and windows, including 2 9-pane casements, all in chamfered
surrounds. Rear elevation of west range shows twin attached yards with
railings to front and piers with pyramidal caps flanking gates and at right
end.
The actual kennels are a later addition to a building which, to judge from
its large south windows, may have been intended as a schoolroom or hall.
