Farmhouse, malthouse and railings. Early C17 with mid-C18 additions. Timber
framed with brick infill on high sandstone plinth, and red brick additions,
plain tile roof; brick ridge stacks. C17 lobby-entry plan house of 2 framed
bays aligned north-south facing west; C18 extension or rebuilding of a C17 bay
to the north; malthouse at right angles to the north-west. West front: C17
range to the right, C18 malthouse to the left. C17 range. 2 storeys on
cellar; close studding to ground floor, and above, 2 square panels to eaves,
with straight braces. 2 windows, C20 casements; blocked cellar windows.
Central boarded and battened door with shaped head. Malthouse. 2 storeys with
dentilled eaves; 3 bays, segmental-headed windows with 2-light wooden frames
rebated for fixed panes. Boarded doors to left and right. Cast-iron railings
enclosed a front garden. East front. C18 extension to right: 2 storey and
gable-lit attic; 3 windows, casements with segmental heads. C17 range set-back
to left and single-storey lean-to link in the re-entrant angle, above this is a
large gable window. Interior. Chamfered and stopped ceiling beams, and C17
open fireplace with moulded bresummer. In the malthouse the fireboxes survive
together with the perforated floors above.
