House. Early C16 core with considerable alterations of the C18 and C19.
Timber framed core, the outer walls almost entirely rebuilt in brick; plain
tile roofs; brick stacks including a massive lateral stack to the north-
west wing in English bond. H-plan. Single-bay hallrange aligned north-
west / south-east facing north-east, with entrance at the south-east end.
Flanking 2-bay crosswings. 2 storeys and attic. 2 gabled wings flank
a recessed hall range. 1:1:2 windows; casements, those to the right hand
(north-west) wing have segmental heads. Small late C19 stone porch in the
re-entrant angle between hall range and left hand (south-east) wing, with
Tuscan columns and pedimented gable. To the rear, in the angle between
hallrange and south-east wing is a timber framed projection which houses
the staircase. The gable of the north-west wing has a first floor jetty.
Interior. Entrance hall. Exposed timber framing at the north-west end;
chamfered and stopped spine beam and joists; late C19 stone fireplace with
Tudor-arch and panelled spandrels, and a C17 or C17 style timber overmantle.
Dog-leg staircase of circa 1700 heavily restored in late C20. North-west
wing. Exposed timber framed partition wall; chamfered and stopped ceiling
beams. South-east wing. The drawing room occupies the entire ground storey;
it was refurbished in the early C19. The walls have large panels with moulded
frames, Ionic columns at the junction of the two bays and an egg and dart
frieze. Little Saredon Manor stands within a moated site which probably pre-
dates the existing house.
