Country house. Early C19 with extensive additions of 1885-90 for
Worthington the brewer. Red brick with stone dressings, plinth, and
band at first floor level; hipped slate roof set behind blocking course
and cornice; ridge stacks. 3-storey, five-window front; glazing bar
sashes with stone wedged heads, the top floor now plate glass sashes
and the centre first floor with a pediment on consoles; French casement
opens onto a balustraded flat-roofed porch with frieze and pilasters.
Central entrance reached by steps and with double, part-glazed doors.
Set back, late C19 wings of two storeys to either side of central block
each with balustrade, pilasters at angles and 3 sided bay windows rising
through both storeys.
