An impressive C15 timber-framed building with exposed framing and modern brick nogging on the front. Plaster infill on the east side. It is said to have been built circa 1425-1485 for the De Vere family who owned it until the end of the C17. The De Vere emblems of the star and boar are carved on the doorhead. It is said to have extended further east towards the White Horse Inn. In the 1920s it was partly dismantled and reconstructed.

The house comprises two wings with gables on the front, a smaller gable between them and a wing at the rear. Two storeys and attics. The upper storey is jettied on the front at two levels on carved bressumers, soffits and wall plates with curved brackets and some moulded capitals and remains of shafts. There are also carved bressumers in the gables. The windows have all been reconstructed in C15-C16 style and there are oriel windows on the ground storey. The doorway has fine carved doorposts, head and spandrels. There are good interior features.
