Early C18, with C17 wing extension, C18 gazebo and C17 cottage. Main
facade; ashlar, stone-tiled roof, 2 storeys plus 3 hipped dormers, casements
with glazing bars in exposed wooden moulded frames with heavily moulded
wooden cornice. 5 windows, sashes, glazing bars, moulded architrave surrounds
and moulded sills. Ground floor windows have also flat cornices over.
Central doorway with deep roll bolection moulding surround and triangular
pediment on cut stone brackets. Modern 6-panel door. 3 semi-circular
steps up to door. Narrow angle pilasters, plinth, moulded cornice and
plain parapet. Symmetrical walled forecourt with paved pathway. Side
walls have moulded copings and curved ramp. Front wall low with plain
wrought-iron railings and gate. C17 wing to right of main frontage.
Coursed rubble, central gable, stone-tiled roofs. 2 storeys and attic
in gable. 2 windows on each floor, fixed light and casements (originally
with stone mullions); 3 have dripmoulds. Square ashlar porch to left,
with flat lead-covered roof. Moulded cornice and square-headed door opening
(modern door). Oval "bulls-eye" window in the side of porch. Cobbled
forecourt. Originally separate house.
All the listed buildings in Whitehead's Lane together with Nos 15 to 17
(consec) Silver Street and Nos 1 to 4 (consec) and Nos 7 and 8 White Hill
form a group.
