Watermill. c.1660, with C19 addition to left. Limestone ashlar with moulded
cornice. Addition of Flemish bond red brick. Old tile roof; stone end stack and
C19 brick internal stack in right corner; addition has end stack. 2-unit
extended to 3-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3 bays. Addition of one storey and
attic due to rising site; one bay. Symmetrical front. 8-panelled door in moulded
architrave, and pedimented Tuscan doorcase of baseless half columns, with
pedestal and ball finial. Cyma recta moulded cross windows in moulded
architraves with pulvinated frieze and cornice, and moulded sill. Central
moulded round-arched niche with impost band. Addition has boarded-up doorway and
dormer. Right return side has plank door with moulded lintel in intermittently
rusticated surround. First floor has cross window. Rear has small windows in
moulded eared architraves, 2 blocked on ground floor, 3 on first floor. 2 small
C19 brick segmental arches to C19 overshot wheel. C19 drive wheel projects from
wail. Addition has window and dormer. All windows boarded up. Interior not
inspected. The mill was probably associated with Chesterton House, demolished in
1802.
