1791 by Sir John Soane for Samuel Beechcroft, a director of the Bank of England. An
enlargement of a very small house. No elevations survive in the Soane Museum but there
is a plan and some accounts. The house was enlarged again in the 1860s. Red brick house.
Two storeys, attics and cellars. Three window range, double-hung sashes with glazing
bars. The ground storey windows extend down to floor level, with stuccoed reveals.
A central modern glazed door has a stucco doorcase with pilaster and cornice. Roof tiled,
with a dentilled eave course and ornamental crest files. A wing extends at rear (1860s
extension). Small tablet with initials SB and the date 1791 Get high up in the east wall
of house.
