A fine C18-C19 timber-framed and weatherboarded watermill no longer in
use and partly converted into a dwelling. A mill has been on the site
from the C16 and the mill race, over which the mill is built contains
Tudor brickwork. fit the south end there is the remains of a water wheel.
The mill comprises a gabled centre part of 3 storeys and loft with loft
hoists on the east and west ends and 2-storeyed side wings. 1:2:1 window
range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground storey is of brick.
At the north end a C16 timber-framed and plastered house extends east and west
it was altered into cottages, probably in the C18 and was incorporated
into the mill house in the C20. A short wing joins the C16 block with
the mill. The windows are C20 casements with leaded lights. The interior
has exposed timber-framing ceiling beams and joists. The roofs of the
mill are slate and of the old house, tiled. The mill stands over a brick
bridge with the mill lade on the east side. This brickwork incorporates
C16 brick of an earlier mill. At the east front of the mill the bridge
is paved with granite setts. The C19 mill machinery still remains in
the interior.
