- II
House, built in 2 stages: c.1600; and c.1750, as dated in plaster oval above
entrance. 1 storey and attics. Timber-framed and plastered; some C18
plasterwork in panels at the rear. Pantiled and Roman pantiled roofs (once
thatched). An axial C19 chimney of red brick in the main range; an external
gable chimney of mid C18 red brick with burnt headers to left. Gabled dormers
with C19 small-pane casements. C19 and C20 small-pane casements; some C18
casements with leaded lights in the cross-wing. 4-panelled late C18 or early
C19 entrance door with moulded architrave. The cross-wing is of late C16 or
early C17: unmoulded framing with evidence for diamond-mullioned windows and
side-purlin roof; it probably comprised a small 3-cell house whose axial
chimney was later removed. The C18 main range has jointed framing with reused
oak members combined with pine beams; primary-braced studwork.
