- Cottages
GV II
Originally one house, now 2 cottages. A C16 2-cell end-chimney range with C17
and C18 in-line additions. Timber framed and pebbledash-rendered with a
pantiled roof. 1½ storeys. Small-paned metal-framed casement windows of C20
date. One gabled dormer. 3 boarded doors. 2 internal stacks, the older one
to right with a rendered shaft. C16 work comprises hall and service cells.
Hall has chamfered cross-beams, the bridging beam with solid braces to the
wallposts (one missing). The left half of this room, within No.3, has heavy
plain joists. The adjacent service cell, also within No.3, has exposed plain
joists. Remainder of structure largely concealed. Addition to right of main
stack is probably of C17 date; C18 addition to left.
