Farmhouse. C16. Timber-framed with colourwashed render and a plain tile
roof, probably originally thatched. Single storey with attic. Three-cell
plan. Entrance front: Doorway with C19 door at right on line with the
screens passage. This has 4 flush lower panels and 2 upper glazed panels.
To right of this is a 4-light C19 casement and at left of it one 4-light
and one 3-light C19 casements. The left hand bay has colourwashed brick
walling and may be of a later build. The first floor has a 3-light gabled
dormer window to near-centre. To the ridge at left of centre is an axial
stack of 2 flues, mostly rebuilt in C19 brick. Right hand gable end:
similar door to that on the entrance front and a 4-light first floor window
with an outshut at right which has a cambered-headed 3-light window. Left
hand gable end: doorway at left of centre with a window of 6x3 panes to its
right and to left of it a single-light window and a 3-light casement to the
first floor. Rear: outshut to whole length of the ground floor with a
slate roof. Two-light gabled dormer window to the first floor at left.
Interior: Screens passage with chamfered muntins and cross rails. Two
service rooms lead off from this, one now having a blocked doorway and with
close-studded walling. Hall: chamfered ceiling beam with stepped lamb's
tongue end stops resting on jowled wall posts and plain joists.
