Handed almshouse pair. Circa 1929 by Maurice Webb. Red brick with plain tiled roof;
end ridge stacks, rubbed brick coping to gable ends. 1 storey wit parapet breaking
through eaves on outer bays. 3 bays, one 3-light sash in outer bays. Central pier
with projecting pilaster, arched recesses to either side, 1 casement in each. Part
glazed door in sides of recess bays approached by a flight of 2 steps. 3 bay trabeated
colonnade with square brick piers and wooden lintels, dado walls to outer bays
connecting Nos.9 and 10 with Nos. 11 to 14 to south east.
Chestnut Crescent was added to the original octagonal plan of Whiteley village with
the buildings designed in similar style.
