Entrance walls and service buildings, and farm buildings to Horsley Towers. Circa 1870
in Lovelace Style. Random flint rubble with brick and terracotta dressings to the
majority, whitewashed and rendered range to the south. Slate roofs. Entrance wall and
arch to west, farmyard to north and garage round to south.
Entrance wall: Approximately 150 metres long, set back to left, and 15 feet high.
Decorative projecting brick cornice to right half under machicolated parapet, brick
coping to left range. Brick-edged, "breather" type openings to left hand range with
brick edged, arched, metal framed casement window to right. Similar brick-edged
"breathers" on right hand range, with arched casement window to left. Arched entrance
to left with brick, rib-vaulted passage and central oculus.
Farm range to north:- Around 3 sides of a courtyard with Southside and Horsley Towers
Cottage forming fourth side. Two storeys with arcaded brick eaves and large, chamfered-
edge brick arcading to ground floor on 3 sides. Irregular, fixed casement fenestration
with some breathers, brick edged. Arched openings on north side flank central granary,
further gates to south east and north east corners.
Cottage range to south: Round tower to left in re-entrant angle between "Southside"
and the entrance wall. 2 storeys, ground rising to make one storey at east end
(Horsley Towers Cottage), 3 ridge stacks, one to left, centre and right. Brick edged,
metal frame casement windows, irregularly placed. 6 first floor windows to centre,
those to left obscured by foliage. Ground floor windows to left in arched surrounds,
4 arched windows to right,with arched door, to Horsley Towers Cottage. Further doors
to left of centre and left.
Gardener's Cottage and garage range to south: 2 storeys. 3 bay cottage with irregular
fenestration, boarded up, to left, 2 bay range to right flanking 3 bay garage range,
set back, articulated with Doric pilaster/piers, some cut off.
