Lodges and walls to Horsley Towers, now cottages. 1860 in Lovelace style. Flint rubble
stone with red and black brick dressings, slate roofs, hipped to right. Two lodges with
curving front walls flanking the remains of once arched entrance gate, estate walls
extending to left and right.
Bishop's Gate: (South lodge to right) Two storeys with machiciolated arcade and yellow
terracotta panels to eaves. 4 brick-dressed lancet windows to first floor with round
arched terracotta plaque to top. Half glazed door to centre of ground floor under
cambered head, in brick dentilled surround. Wall extending to right end of lodge.
Remains of gate pier attached to left wall of lodge.
Bishops Gate Lodge: (North lodge). Two storeys with conical roof under terracotta finial.
"T"plan with wing at right angles to rear. Large brick stack at junction of two ranges.
Curved front wall with deep,round arched, roll moulded and chamfered brick surround to
first floor panel containing one cambered head, 2-light casement window. 3 casements to
ground floor, centre one retaining original glazing bars, in striped glazed brick
surrounds. Further window to ground floor left in pentice extension. Door to right,
behind remains of gate piers, in arched brick surround. One casement in street facade
of rear wing.
