Lodge and Gateway to the
east of Clayton Priory

Circa 1820, possibly designed by John Rebecca. The lodge is a small square
stuccoed building. Two windows. Each front is flanked by pilasters placed at an
angle. Cornice and parapet. Slate roof. Round-headed windows with incised lines
over them. Mid C19 addition of 2 windows to north west. Adjoining the lodge on the
north is the gateway consisting of stuccoed gate-piers surmounted by the figures of
eagles with elaborate iron gate between, the carriage gates having side pieces
which are pedestrian gates.
