Earlier C19 former inn, the Castle Madoc Arms, said to be included on 1841 and 1861 census with some 19 to 20 people resident. Formerly part of Castell Madoc estate, part of it said to have been an estate counting-house. The arrangement of chimneys and doors suggests that it may have been two houses. In 1926 directory as Castle Madoc Arms, run by Mrs Phoebe Phelan.
House, former inn, whitewashed rubble stone with slate eaves roof and two large rubble stone corniced chimneys, one at S end, one on ridge. Three storeys, four bays to W, canted single-bay NW corner, with canted hipped NW corner to roof. Hornless sashes, 6-pane square top windows, 12-pane below, with stone lintels and tooled stone sills. W front has three bays between the chimneys and one to left. Left bay has a blank window each floor over door with 4-pane overlight. Three-bay part has blank windows to upper floors of centre bay (aligned right of centre) and blocked door in ground floor. NW corner has window each floor.
Windowless N end has lean-to former shop with C20 tripartite sash to W end.
