The pillar has entasis and rises to a dentil cornice and moulded projecting capping which carries a ball on a swept peak. The south face to the road has an arched tabernacle with an inscription to the fallen of both World Wars and the wording 'THIS MEMORIAL WAS ERECTED BY THE PARISHES OF ST. ATHAN, FLEMINGSTONE, GILESTON AND EGLWYSBREWIS'. Below the taberbnacle there is an inscription in Welsh. The steps are surrounded by a square of late C20 steel railings.
