History

Built about 1842, when work began on the new Tenby road here. Reinforced in later C20.

Exterior

Single arched road bridge in coursed rubble stone with cut stone voussoirs to arch and flanking blank roundels in spandrels. Lower flood channels each side with matching voussoirs. Raised piers to bridge heads, and coped parapet wall on projecting course. Underside of arch reinforced in later C20 with concrete plinth and low revetment, bearing arched steel beams. Bridge sides have later C20 reinforcing rods with circular steel ties.

Reasons for Listing

Included, despite recent reinforcement, as a good mid C19 road bridge in the style pioneered by William Edwards, characterised by spandrel pierced for lightness and strength.
