The tomb commemorates John Vaughan, son of Jane, the daughter of Thomas ap Gruffydd of Madryn, who matriculated at Oxford, a member of the well known gentry family of Vaughan of Glasfryn.
A low set ledger slab of stone, with under-chamfered endges, inscribed at its head with cut lettering reading:- HIC.IACET.IOHANN/ES: VAGHAN:DE:G/LASFRYN:GEN:QVI/OBIT 5. 9LIS.1665.
Included as a relatively rare and well-preserved example of a C17 chest tomb.
