History

Probably an early C19 house remodelled with the addition of a saw mill and paint shop later C19. The mill is now disused.

Exterior

Two-storey house with lower 2-storey former paint shop attached to R, and former mill attached to L with a further wing behind. Of rubble sandstone with slate roofs. The house is scribed roughcast painted white and has projecting eaves, stone stack to L and brick stack to R. Double fronted with horned sashes in architraves and panelled door. Paint shop is 2-window, with blocked openings and central-pivoting window upper R. Mill to L has central stone stack, boarded doors to L (with overlight) and centre, boarded up opening to R under stone lintel, and a boarded upper-storey opening. Rear of house is cement rendered and is 2-window with casements in the upper storey, a boarded door lower R and earlier hornless sash window in lower centre. The paint shop has boarded doors in each storey with windows to L. The mill has a single 2-light casement under a lintel set back from the angle of the added rear wing, which has a wheelpit and arched tailrace entrance attached to its rear gable end.

Interior

Not inspected at time of survey (August 1997), but saw mill machinery said to be removed.
